This past week, I participated in the TKS IoT hackathon. A hackathon is an event where groups of people come together to find a solution to a global issue using design thinking skills. The judges then select a team that has the best idea, and that group is the winner. Our hackathon theme was IoT, IoT stands for the internet of things, and it is a group of technologies that work together to achieve a goal. Our groups’ idea to solve a problem in the healthcare field, is a modular pill system that reminds, notifies, and monitors patients’ pill intake. Over 70% of adults have prescription medication, but over 50% of them don’t take their medication or forget to take them. With the HexMed modular pill system, we believe that we can solve this problem. More information may be found in the slide deck linked above.
